International students: qualify in the Netherlands

Divers from across Europe, the Middle East and beyond come to Enkhuizen to add a formal underwater welding qualification to their diving career. Here is everything you need to know before you travel.

Taught in English

The full programme — theory, basin work and the qualification test — runs in English as well as Dutch. Course materials are available in English.

Your diving certificate

Admission requires a recognised professional diving certificate (Dutch scheme: B30, B50R or B50). Holding an HSE, ADAS, DCBC or other national certificate? Email a copy — we assess equivalence individually and tell you exactly where you stand before you book.

A qualification with international weight

Your welder qualification (LK) to EN ISO 15618-1 or AWS D3.6M is examined under DNV oversight — personnel certification by an internationally recognised, independent body.

Getting here

Enkhuizen is about one hour from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by car or train. The campus is on the waterfront at Voorland 13, Enkhuizen.

Visa

EU/EEA citizens travel freely. Many nationalities can visit the Schengen area visa-free for short stays; others need a short-stay Schengen visa (type C) — check the requirements for your nationality early, as processing takes several weeks. We can provide a confirmation of enrolment for your application.

Accommodation

Enkhuizen is a compact harbour town with hotels, B&Bs and holiday parks in all price ranges. We gladly share suggestions near the campus when you book.

Medical

You need a valid occupational diving medical. Bring your current certificate; if it expires around the course dates, arrange renewal in advance — we can point you to approved diving physicians in the Netherlands.

Check your eligibility before you book

Send us your diving certificate, a note on your welding experience and your preferred period. We reply with a concrete admission assessment and the next available dates.
