Depth is a variable. Ours is adjustable

Train and qualify to 21 metres depth

In underwater welding, water depth is a decisive qualification variable. Under EN ISO 15618-1 or AWS D3.6M, the qualification test must be carried out under appropriate hyperbaric conditions. The valid depth range is determined by the welding procedure specification (WPS) applied and the limits of the relevant standard.

That is why our 21-metre dive basin has a movable floor that can be set steplessly and precisely — from the water surface down to a depth of 21 metres.

This lets underwater welders train specifically and take their qualification test at a depth that matches the work to be carried out — for example at 2, 8 or 18 metres.

Train and qualify under realistic conditions, at the depth your project requires:

  • Stepless adjustment from the water surface to 21 metres depth
  • Movable floor, adjustable to the centimetre
  • LARS crane directly above the dive basin
  • Repeat the same exercise at increasing depths, within a single training day

A joint venture of two specialists

The Hyperbaric Welding Center combines the professional diving facilities and training expertise of BC-opleidingen — ISO 9001-certified and an IMCA member — with the specialist welding expertise of the Lasinstituut.

This means the center meets a clear need in the Dutch and European training landscape for underwater welders. The programmes combine professional diving, hands-on welding training and qualification under realistic underwater conditions.

Welder qualifications are conducted under DNV oversight, ensuring an independent, internationally recognised assessment of competence.
